Boe exam question and answer - What is Thermal Grinding ?

Boiler Operation Engineer Interview Question - 33 Q. What is Thermal Grinding ? Ans.  Grinding of Lignite by means of using flue gas at high temperature from furnace as result lignite is powdered in to fine particles and moisture content in the lignite is reduced. Flue gas is sucked by means of mill which acts like a fan. Thermal Grinding is carried out in Re suction Duct  of Mill. What is RAPH & SCAPH and their functions in Boiler ? - BOE Exam Questions And Answers

Boiler Operation Engineer ( BOE ) Interview Question - 31 Q.What is RAPH & SCAPH and their functions ? Ans.  Regenerative Air Preheater ( RAPH ) : Regenerative air pre heater (RAPH) is mainly used for preheating the FD fan outlet air by utilising the outgoing flue gas temperature for making the combustion a rapid and efficient one. Steam Coil Air Preheater : Steam coil air pre heater (SCAPH) is employed mainly during start up. As during start up, the flue gas temperature at the inlet of RAPH will be less. If the air extracts more heat from the flue gas, the flue gas temperature falls below 140°C and it leads to cold end corrosion. So to avoid this air is preheated by SCAPH to that steam supplied from the AST header. So that heat transfer rate in RAPH can be reduced without allowing flue gas temperature to fall below 140C. The SCAPH is located after FD fan outlet and before RAPH.  Read More Boiler Interview Questions   What are the factors which affect the Natural circulation ? Wh

BOE exam question and answer - Why once through boilers are having circulation ratio of only one ?

Boiler Operation Engineer Interview Question - 29 Q. Why once through boilers are having circulation ratio of only one ? Ans.  Once through boilers operate at a pressure above critical point at that pressure water flashed in to steam directly without actually boiling. In such cases water need not be circulated more than once for Converting the water in to steam. Read More Boiler Interview Questions   What are the factors which affect the Natural circulation ? Power Plant Interview Question - How do you calculate the Turbine Efficiency ?

Boiler Operation Engineer Interview Question - 28 Q.How do you calculate the Turbine Efficiency ? Ans. Turbine efficiency is the ratio of heat out put to the heat input Here, heat input is heat content in inlet steam and out put is power generation. Actually, total power generation = Power generated on generator terminal/ (Gear box efficiency X Alternator efficiency). What is Turbine heat rate ? Turbine heat rate is the ratio of total heat required to generate unit power. Turbine efficiency = 860 X 100/ Turbine heat rate Thermal power plant turbine heat rate = Steam flow (Main steam enthalpy - Feed water enthalpy) / Power generation.  Co - generation Turbine heat rate   = (Steam Flow x Steam Enthalpy +Makeup Water flow x Its Enthalpy+ RC Flow x RC Enthalpy)-(Process -1 steam flow x its Enthalpy+ Process -2 steam flow x Its Enthalpy+ FW Flow x FW Enthalpy)) /Power Generation.  Read More Boiler Interview Questions   What are the factors which affect the Natural circulation ? Power Plant Interview Question - How to Calculate Efficiency of a Power Plant ?

Boiler Operation Engineer Interview Question - 27 Q. What is the effIciency of  power plant ? Ans .  Efficiency of the power plant is calculated based on heat input and out put. Power plant efficiency = Heat out put X 100/Heat In put.  In power plant, generally heat input is fuel, make up water and condensate return water from process. Heat out put is power generation. The formula for efficiency calculation is different for different plants. Efficiency of the power plant is given as.  Efficiency = 860 X 100/ Heat rate 1. For thermal power plants efficiency is calculated as; Efficiency = 860 X Power generation / Heat input.  Efficiency = 860 X PG X 100/ (Fuel consumption X Fuel GCV).  2. For co generation plants heat rate is calculated as; Efficiency = 860 X Power generation X 100/ (Fuel consumption X GCV + Make up water X Make up water enthalpy + Return condensate water X Enthalpy - Process steam flow X Enthalpy).  3. Co generation plant Efficiency is also calculated as; Efficiency =

Thermal power plant interview questions and answer pdf - Why does the Boiler backfire ?

Boiler Operation Engineer Interview Question - 26 Q. Why does the boiler backfire ? Ans.  Back firing of boiler is due to: 1.Unbalanced draught 2.Reduced speed of ID fan or more speed of FD fan 3.Improper locking of fans damper (which may disturb in fan running due to air pressure) 4.Sudden trip of ID fan or closing of damper 5.High moisture fuel 6.More excess air 7.Jamming of APH Read More Boiler Interview Questions   What are the factors which affect the Natural circulation ?
