Why pumps are used in parallel and series mode ?

Let us begin with the basics of centrifugal pump mode of operation. Mode of operation can be either Parallel mode and Series mode. Pumps can be arranged in parallel or serial mode to provide an additional head or flow rate capacity.

What is parallel operation of pump ?

To get constant head and additional flow pumps are arranged in parallel.

Head (H) H1= H2=H3=H Constant

Discharge (Q) = Sum of each Pump discharge = Q1+Q2+Q3
